“Empowering Mississippi’s Beauty and Barber Community Since 1941”

Where legacy meets leadership, and beauty becomes a movement.

Welcome to MIBBA

Founded in 1941 by visionaries Clemmie Tardd and Levye Chapple, the Mississippi Independent Beauticians’ Association was born from a conversation and built into a movement. For over 80 years, we’ve trained, uplifted, and organized Black beauty professionals across the state—building a legacy of excellence, education, and unity.
